China takes note of Navy Secretary Del Toro's comments on Co-Production
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) is now the paper of record for the CCP and is used to test and gauge talking points and themes
Navy Secretary Del Toro has posited the idea of co-production of U.S. Navy ship modules with South Korea and Japan.
This has now triggered the attention of the CCP. The SCMP is the media of choice when the CCP is gauging themes, talking points, and new initiatives. The origins of CCP influence campaigns start as stories planted in the SCMP.
The U.S. Navy is behind on all nine major shipbuilding efforts and the pathway out of this dilemma that goes back thirty years is unclear and likely does not exist. DOD has tried everything, but until a disruptive event changes the current model and paradigm, nothing has or will work to change the anemic American industrial base.
Del Toro thinks out loud and China reacts.
