Billionaire's Contrived Rebellion against Buc-ee's
Slashed tires, crude name-calling, and a town divided
It’s billionaire vs. giant gas station Buc-ee’s in an epic fight for the West’s last open spaces. Media mogul John Malone is the second-largest private landowner in the U.S., with a Colorado ranch stretching between Denver and Colorado Springs and does not want to see a Buc-ee’s encroaching anywhere near his property.
Some residences of Palmer Lake, CO publicly voiced their disgust with Buc-ee’s intentions to open a 74,000 square-foot store with 60 gas pumps and nearly 800 parking spaces. Love it or hate it, Buc-ee’s has a nationally renowned reputation for their BBQ, bathroom cleanliness, customer-service, and enough merchandise to supply a small Wal-Mart.
Personally, I was happy to see Buc-ee’s open one of its newest locations in Rockingham County, VA on June 30 with another planned for Stafford County.
