Chinese Advance Force Operations (AFO) Update

AFO Tuesday: The running list of Chinese AFOs shaping the environment in preparation for conflict

Since the DOD Dictionary and Joint Publication 3-0 (and even Joint Publication 5-0 Joint Planning) are no longer public facing (I did find JP 5-0 here), for the layperson, AFOs (Advance Force Operations) are the American Military Joint Operations doctrine, plans, procedures, units, and resources used to conduct shaping operations in Phase 0 of conflict (Phases of Conflict appears to be a term no longer in public vogue - but still strongly “shapes” the planning process). The semi-mythical “Army of Northern Virginia” which may or may not exist is but one element of American AFO Operations.
