General to Be Appointed First Marine Superintendent of the USNA
Lt. Gen. Borgschulte, call-sign "Meat"
Lt. Gen. Michael Borgschulte, former linebacker and graduate of the United States Naval Academy, will soon take the helm as superintendent, marking the first time in the academy’s history where the post wasn’t filled by a naval officer, which comprise about three-quarters of midshipmen graduates each year.
A career Marine Corps aviator, Borgshulte will be replacing Vice Admiral Yvette Davids earlier than as is typically expected of a superintendent. Davids became the first female superintendent after her appointment in January 2024 and will be departing in the coming months for a position as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans, Strategy, and Warfighting Development.
