U-2 Spy Plane Makes Rare Public Appearance at RIAT 2025
Definitely NOT a Relic of the Past
The Royal International Air Tattoo is an annual airshow held at RAF Fairford in the UK for over 50 years and recently featured a rare public demonstration of the U.S. Air Force’s iconic U-2 spy plane, nick-named “Dragon Lady”.
The Lockheed U-2 is a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft shared by the U.S. Air Force and CIA and is featured in the excellent spy thriller “Bridge of Spies”, based on the real-life, international crisis where a U-2 piloted by Francis Gary Powers was shot down over the USSR in 1960.
