When Emergency Response Gets Weaponized by Political Leaders
The National Security Hour
Responding to catastrophes and emergencies, such as forest fires, floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters, is always challenging. In the past, organizations such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency and State, Tribal, and local governments have done their best in a professional and politically impartial manner.
Somewhere along the line, emergency response became weaponized by the Blue Government. DEI crept in and poisoned the emergency management culture. The gross, willful incompetence of the Autopen Administration and local leaders like California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass reflects the victory of ideology over competence and professionalism.
The Biden Administration conducted a shameful politicization of FEMA’s response to the Southeast floods in 2024.
Nicholas Giordano joins the National Security Hour to discuss the tenets of Emergency Management and the pathway to correcting what has undermined the former professionalism that existed. Nicholas is a distinguished political science professor, political commentator, and host of The P.A.S. Report Political Podcast. With over two decades of expertise in government, politics, emergency management, and homeland security, he is highly sought after for his insightful analysis and leadership.
